A guided tour of what SYNC’s clients are putting on the Newsstands these days.
R.J. Muna, Mazda and Magic
As photographers move forward with their careers, sometimes things gradually slow down. Not true for R.J. Muna. With an ever-expanding client list, PDN cover and stepping into an Executive Vice President role on the APA National board, he is taking it all in stride.
Recently, SYNC had the pleasure of re-connecting with R.J. on Mazda. Impeccably organized and produced by Mark Hofmann Productions, this shoot at Inyokern Airport produced a stellar image for Art Director Diana Phillips.
As technical and he is creative, R.J. is masterful in is approach to blocking out a very complex composite shot. Shooting multiple camera angles to provide extra options in post, R.J. shot 7 vehicles during magic hour to be assembled into a single image.
We think the results speak for themselves!
James Law creates magic for Upton Belts!
Recently, SYNC had the pleasure of working with L.A. photographer, James Law on his shoot for Upton Belts. From the very beginning, it was obvious that this shoot was going to be absolutely iconic. From the strong, graphic imagery, special effects and striking models, James took belts where they have never gone before!
Shot in San Diego, James Law worked with the SYNC crew to craft a simple, elegant lighting approach . . . the results speak for themselves.
SYNC and Comic-Con 2015!!
For the fifth straight year, the 115 foot California Princess yacht was home for the TV Guide Magazine / TV Insider Seaside Studio at Comic-Con in San Diego! Moored in the lovely North San Diego Bay behind the Convention Center, the 1,600 sq. ft. observation deck was transformed into a photography studio while the enclosed mid deck functioned as a well stocked green room and video interview/multimedia center. TV Insider provided lots of great BTS images . . . check them out here and here!
SYNC and portrait, fashion and lifestyle photographer Adam Olszewski teamed up to provide all the horsepower necessary to keep up with the rapid-fire pace of this media blitz! With only a few minutes with each cast, the action is fast and furious. During the three day event, the casts from well over 70 current and upcoming TV shows were photographed! Thanks to TV Guide Magazine’s staff and the swift military precision with which this entire event was organized, everything went off without a hitch!
SYNC’s super well maintained gear (and brand new Profoto Pro 8 packs) more than kept up with all the non-stop 3 day action. SYNC DIGITAL‘s new 8 core Mac Pro with 64GB of RAM didn’t hurt either, as processing/backup and capture were all done on set.
Here’s a few more images from the fun-filled days on the yacht…
It’s always nice to get a Thank You card. Especially one that has this nice of a message inside. Adam is a class act for sure . . .
Another successful shoot with Jim Wright!

From the Newsstand with Photographer, David Zaitz
SYNC connected with Photographer, David Zaitz recently to shoot a very important recruiting book for The Bishop’s School in La Jolla . . .
The Bishop’s School is a renowned and respected 100-year old private school that was faced with the following challenge: How do we create a breakthrough, eye-catching centennial recruiting book that isn’t rooted in historic, sepia-toned photos of the past?
The solution??
The school hired super-creative Boston marketing firm Holland-Mark to bring a fresh new look to their brand book with a bold new layout. The Design Director at Holland-Mark in turn selected the striking, iconic photography of Mr. Zaitz . . .
This was an instance of all parties literally being on the same page from day 1 and it proved to be a perfect match that resulted in the gorgeous images below!
Thanks to the staff, students and faculty at The Bishop’s School for their overwhelming support in the photography of this project. This was a real team effort and SYNC could not be more proud of its involvement in this project!
Photographer Mark Katzman and the National Guard
St. Louis based shooter and one of our original clients, Mark Katzman teamed up with SYNC for a series of images at Camp Pendleton recently. Mark’s shoot was supported with troops, Humvees, Personnel Carriers and an Osprey aircraft! Super-fun shoot and AMAZING images.
