SYNC teamed up with Snap! Yourself photo booths to snap away for  Seventeen Magazine as she signed copies of her cover shot at  Barnes & Noble.

Fans were encouraged to step through the booth as they were instantly transformed by Snap! Yourself onto the cover of Seventeen Magazine.

One of SYNC’s crew members, James Abke, captured the behind the scenes chaos of kids and parents flocking to get a glimpse of the pop idol.

The campaign, created by LM & O Advertising and the National Guard has recently begun and the following two Ads are currently running. We will post the new ads as they are released, so check back with us!

This image was put together with the help of Master Set Builder, Peter Gick. His team constructed the lower half of this building to seamlessly line up with the second floor – allowing for Peter to submerge the reproduction of the 1st floor (along with a stop sign and street signage) in a lagoon at Universal Studios! The two sections were photographed separately and pieced together in post.

This image was shot at dawn in the “Red Sea” section of the Universal Studios Tour where the water is drained out of the tramway. The vehicle was positioned and secured to a steel deck riser the night before and during the pre-dawn hours after talent was brought in, the water was pumped back in. A rainmaker was used as well and a cherry picker (for lighting). There were many, many difficult aspects to this image and they all needed to come together in a few hours so Universal could start their Tram Tours promptly at 9:00am!

Complete flash control of your camera, in your hand or from your computer, including flash power and modeling light control. Control an unlimited number of generators and heads on eight channels. Profoto Air devices deliver sync signals with a very short delay, just 200µs in fast mode. For some assignments, this is the only tool that will get you the shot you need.

Signal connections are made with either a hot shoe or a cable. These small, handheld devices weigh only 70 g (2.5 oz) including batteries.

For more challenging environments or distances, there are two added features to improve range and reliability.  Long Range Mode (LR) will roughly double the working range and is ideal for remote camera triggering.  Repeater Mode (RP) allows the addition of one or more radios in between the transmitting and receiving radios to overcome distance, obstacles or other interference.  RP mode works well for both remote camera triggering and remote flash triggering.

Remote camera users will love the new Two-Stage Trigger feature.  The TEST button on the Plus III acts like a camera’s shutter release with “half-press”.  Use this unique feature to wake, focus and meter a remote camera before triggering.  Pressing TEST all the way triggers the remote camera.  The Plus III can fire at sustained triggering rates of up to a blazing 14.5 frames per second.  Two AA batteries can power the Plus III up to 50 hours and when needed for remote camera triggering, it can be powered with an external battery through the Mini-B USB 2.0 port. The USB port can also be used for firmware updates.

Of course, the Plus III is reverse-compatible with all PocketWizard radios, making it the perfect addition to existing gear.  It is especially well paired with the MultiMAX which has the same set of 32 channels and four zones. Longtime friend and SYNC client, Adam Olszewski, was the ring leader behind these fabulous images from TV GUIDE MAGAZINE’s Fall Preview and we’re here to give you the behind the scenes scoop on what it took to make this shoot happen!

First and foremost, the thing that makes these images even more remarkable is the fact that they were all taken on five overlapping sets in a 20′x20′ shooting space inside a tent in the parking lot of the Beverly Hilton Hotel!

Hosted by TV GUIDE MAGAZINE, this idea of shooting everything in the Big Top media tent was started in 2009. For those of you who might not know, TV GUIDE MAGAZINE is the only magazine devoted exclusively to television—the shows, the stars, the industry. With programming now available anytime and anywhere, they tell consumers what’s worth watching.

The challenge was to build a virtual headquarters for all the major networks to showcase their talent and create a mountain of promotional content for their upcoming shows, but who would they choose to handle a shoot of this complexity?

Enter Adam Olszewski . . . while certain shooters can finesse light, others may be masters at pre-visualization, some are organized and still others can work quickly, Adam Olszewski does it all extremely well and TV GUIDE MAGAZINE knew they had the perfect photographer for this massive shoot.

Organized over a 10 day period in late July, Adam focused his attention on creating an equipment order with SYNC that would enable him to shoot on any of his 5 sets at a moments notice.

James Abke, SYNC’s Rental Dept. Manager said, “We sat down with Adam and put together his wish list with an eye on keeping it as simple as possible. With only 1 to 5 minutes with each subject, the lighting set up needed to be super efficient and the gear had to be in top shape, there was absolutely no time for downtime.”

“Everything in the tent is a trick”, says Adam. “There is no real formula for shooting like this -  every step you take to adjust a light affects not only the set you’re working on but also a 2nd and 3rd. It’s a trick to embellish each set with different props, colors, and textures without interfering with the neighboring sets.”

“If you put it down on paper, it wouldn’t work . .  . it’s almost like the lighting is no longer a physical thing, it’s a mental thing.” Adam goes on to say, “Because things are moving so fast and space is so limited you really have to rely upon the unorthodox – and simply get a feeling for the light you’re after and then you begin to see things from within that space . . . you need to get into the zone to make it work.”

“What appears to be organized chaos during the shoot, is actually a very well thought out production. A huge amount of work goes on behind the scenes regarding how the talent will be dressed and what environments they will be photographed in and what they should be doing. It’s only when the shutter starts clicking and the talent and I begin to interact, that it all finally comes together.”
